What are the benefits of detoxing?

Practiced for centuries by cultures around the world — including Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine systems — detoxification is about resting, cleansing and nourishing the body from the inside out. By removing and eliminating toxins, then feeding your body with healthy nutrients, detoxifying can help protect you from disease and renew your ability to maintain optimum health.

How do I know if I need a detox?

Chances are that if you are suffering from any of the following symptoms then your body is very likely struggling with a toxic load.

Low energy, fatigue, p
oor concentration/memory, food cravings, mood disorders, digestive problems, aches and pains, sugar/caffeine/alcohol/drug dependence, low immunity, weight issues, disease.

I have a full-time job, how am I going to do all these drinks?

We highly recommend making all your juices and smoothies in the morning for the day which you can also transport to work in mason jars. If you do get caught without anything, many cafes do offer juices.

We also have a plan in place that you can order all of your drinks from The Living Café and these will be delivered to your home or work.

What do I need to do to prepare?

The body detoxifies best when it is prepared and supported weeks before the process. The cleaner your digestive track is before the cleanse, the more effective and smooth the entire experience will be. The sooner you start eliminating the following substances from your diet, the better prepared your body will be for the process. Ideally 1-2 weeks before aim to reduce or eliminate:

Meat/Animal Flesh/Fish

All dairy

Processed Sugars

Bad fats such as fried foods

Processed foods


Caffeine: teas and coffee (herbal and green tea is OK)

Sodas, sports drinks

I’m worried I’m going to feel hungry?

If you are feeling hungry have another juice or have a smoothie which is a little more filling. We also have included some juice type soups which can be eaten with a spoon. After the first few days hunger normally wanes and you settle in to a comfortable sense of lightness that is more than satisfied with the juices and herbal teas.

How much herbal tea and liquids do I need?

We really encourage you to stay hydrated and herbal teas are a great way to do this. Try alternating the herbal teas and we highly recommend starting the day off with hot water and lemon to kick start your liver.

I’m worried about stopping my daily coffee and any detox reactions?

Taking caffeine out of the diet this week is essential to give the body a rest and we do offer solutions in the plan you will be sent. The most common side effect from removing caffeine is a headache but this is normally short lived. We will talk all about detox reactions in one of our online Q & A sessions.

Do all my fruit and vegetables need to be organic?

Whilst we highly recommend you go organic, we realise that this is not always possible. We will provide you with a ‘Dirty Dozen, Clean Fifteen’ chart which will show you the most important fruits and vegetables to buy organic and which ones are ok to buy non-organic.

Do I have to do the coffee enemas as I’ve never done them before?

We highly recommend doing daily coffee enemas to detoxify efficiently and really reap the benefits of the detox. The clearing of toxins reduces or helps to eliminate detox symptoms and also minimizes hunger. It also retrains the colon as one of the main detoxification passages. We will also give you full instructions on how to do a coffee enema and if daily is too much then you can consider doing it 2 -3 times in the week.

This is all optional on the Plan.

What do I eat coming off the detox?

We will send you out a plan of how to integrate solids back into your diet. Coming off a detox correctly is really important to your digestion and to ensure you continue to feel great. Coming off too fast usually results in indigestion and stomach pains.

How can I expect to feel after the detox?

After just one week of deep detoxing, you should expect to feel cleansed, clear headed and a few kg lighter! Some of the benefits of detoxing are:
