Aiming to provide parents with some practical, hands-on skills, Paula Huggins will be facilitating a series of four “Love & Logic” workshops. Love and Logic is a philosophy developed by Jim Fay and Foster W. Cline, M.D. It is a popular approach among leading educators, parents, and other professionals worldwide. The four workshops will assist parents to practice a non-confrontational parenting style and will explore how to:

• Share control by offering choices
• Use empathy to bond with your child
• Set clear limits using enforceable statements rather than threats or lectures
• Neutralize arguments before a power struggle develops
• Encourage the child to develop tools for their own problem solving
• Become a “consultant” parent: building a positive parent-child relationship

Ultimately, the combination of age-appropriate boundaries with high levels of warmth and empathy allow a healthy parent-child relationship to unfold.

Paula is passionate about her work with families and the journey of self-development through parenting on which our children lead us. She works as a Counselor at the Singapore American School and was the founding President of the Waldorf Steiner Education Association (Singapore). She is British and has lived in Singapore since July 2000. A mother of two rambunctious boys aged 10 and 8, Paula holds a Masters in Social Science (Counseling) and a Diploma in Child Psychology and Learning Disorder Management.
