TAKING NOTICE OF YOUR BLOAT
TAKING NOTICE OF YOUR BLOAT
Do you suffer in silence with digestive issues such as gas, bloating, reflux, heart burn, irritable bowel, diarrhea and constipation? Often if these issues are not debilitating and you can function normally, it is easy to ignore them and continue with your busy schedule. However, these digestive issues are signals from your body that something is out of balance.

Learn to listen to your body

Learning to listen to your bodies signals is an important step in improving your digestion. So often we know what causes our digestive disturbances, yet ignore the signs or believe they are not significant enough to warrant investigation. However, it is important to track down the culprit as there are many factors that can cause digestive issues, such as food intolerances, low stomach acid, digestive enzymes, bacteria overgrowth or insufficient beneficial microbiota. It is only through testing and/or working with someone that understands how the digestive system works can you begin to correct the imbalances, and find digestive peace.

Reduce stress to digest

In our modern lifestyles emotional, mental and physical stress is rampant. Yet what many don’t realize is that numerous digestive issues such as constipation, diarrhea, IBS and reflux can be exasperated by stress. When we are stressed our body directs blood away from our digestive system and reduces the release of stomach acid, digestive enzymes and bile salts, which are essential for proper digestion. Therefore, taking time to relax when you eat and throughout the day can be important steps in improving your digestion.

Mindful eating

Practicing mindfulness whilst eating, through observing the appearance, smell, taste and feel of your food, and bringing your full attention to the sensory experience of eating can help you to relax during your meals and improve the digestion process.
