WALKING WITH LIGHT
WALKING WITH LIGHT

As with most people, the few days between Christmas and the first of January, I found myself feeling a sense of urgency to come up with some new year resolutions. I did not want to thwart my chance of having them all fulfilled when 2017 came along, especially not when 2016 was fraught with soooo many challenges. I did not want to pass up on the chance to make them all right – as if at the stroke of midnight, something magical happens to wipe the slate clean. Clear out all the bad and start afresh with the good.

Hang on a minute. I caught myself. There I go again… compartmentalizing things into old and new, good and bad when in fact, everything just is. The stroke of midnight on New Year’s Day does not clear out all the bad in our lives because there is in fact no imaginary switch that does that. If I go one step deeper, there is in fact, nothing “bad” to clear out. Life is a continuum of situations that are perfectly unfolding each and every day, bringing with them the life lessons we are meant to learn whether it is 2016 or 2017, this year or the next.

In that moment of clarity, I decided that instead of coming up with a laundry wish-list, I would just invite more light and lightness into my life this year. Instead of being overwhelmed and feeling weighed down by things that are beyond my control, I choose to let go of outcomes and focus my attention on connecting with the light within me. According to Wayne Dyer, as you tap into higher levels of consciousness – you don’t have to force things to happen. They will start to show up for you. My personal maxim for 2017 is hence “The more I release, the more I receive.”

If you are feeling the same way too, consider starting the year on a lighter note with our newly launched THRIVE mind body detox kit. The Shop has also brought in some beautiful windchimes which according to Feng Shui, helps to make the space around us feel lighter and in harmony with the environment. Our recipe section features a light tofu dish that helps you recharge after a decadent holiday season and last but not least, look out for a bevy of events happening here at Balanced Living as we return to full swing this month.

Happy New Year our dear readers! Wishing you love and light in 2017. This is our year to shine!
