WHEN OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS
WHEN OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS

Happy Lunar New Year dear readers! Have you been busy the past few days making the annual rounds to visit family and friends? If so, you may have chanced upon a topic that is commonly discussed during these lunar new year gatherings – your fortune in relation to your Chinese Zodiac.

In 2017, Year of the Rooster, my fortune as a Dragon is supposed to be very good in all aspects of wealth, career and romance – I am most inclined to believe it wholeheartedly. My dear friend who is born in the year of the Pig unfortunately is meant to face the impact of bad luck and have great limits in terms of love, career or wealth acquisition. He is less persuaded to embrace these predictions, exclaiming how we should always take these things with a pinch of salt!

While I hold back a giggle, I must admit there is truth in what he said. I recall an Oprah Winfrey quote: “Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity.” Quite often when we read a good fortune, we are told that the year will bring with it many opportunities to achieve great success in the various aspects of our lives. However, it does not mean that we just sit back and do nothing. Another quote that made me laugh says “Opportunity Knocks. It does not kick down the door and drag you off the couch.”

Take it from someone who is most likely to benefit from auspicious blessings this year – I will not be skiving. Good fortune or not, dreams do not come true by chance. Preparation and hard work is key to building a solid foundation and establishing a proper plan such that when day that “once in a lifetime” opportunity knocks, you have the courage and conviction to open the door, seize the chance and move forward. Be it in the way of a promotion, an investment or the day she says “Yes!”.

Closer to home, for those who are hoping to have a Rooster baby, I will also advise not just sit back and wait. Take an active approach to pre-conception care and ensure you and your partner’s bodies are flushed with nutrients, such that when the opportune time of the month comes, you are more likely to fall pregnant and deliver a healthy baby.

Likewise, if you have been dealt a bad fortune, do not just mope around for a year in the hopes that the next year would turn out better. Have you not heard? We attract what we send out!

If you have been feeling low in spirit or imbalanced in your physical health, take active steps to improve your wellbeing. Seek out good company and participate in positive activities that will breathe life into your heart and soul. When you start to feel strong physically, mentally and emotionally, you raise your own vibrations and naturally attract to you people and situations of the same high frequency. Ultimately, our own fortune lies in our own hands.

On that note, good health, happiness and abundance in each and every way to all of you our dear readers! Huat Ah!
